Filming Day (Tuesday 26th November)
Here is some of the footage I recorded when filming my opening scene on Tuesday. I felt filming went as well as it could have and most of the shots were exactly how I wanted them. However, my acter I chose was awful on the dirt bike and really couldn't get the hang of it meaning I had to step in and get him to film me. Furthermore, we also had issues with light as it gets dark so early now we didn't have long enough to film everything before the light ran out so we will have to meet up again to finish off and get the linking shots between each shot which is why there are a few gaps in the edit. From this filming session, I have learned to always start as early as possible to make the most of the light to get as much filmed in a short amount of time.
I filmed a behind the scenes video to show how I set each scene up and the equipment and lenses I would use to film them. This is to show how I made the opening scene and what went into it. From this, I have learned lots about using sliders for tracking shots and how to keep steady while moving the camera which I will be able to do now in all future projects. All in all, filming went really well I managed to get everything filmed in two days however due to it getting so dark so early this time of the year it meant it was quite hard to get all the shots looking the same as the amount of light we had was constantly changing as the day went on but I feel I can try and fix this in post to have it looking fabulous. In addition, I had to make a few changes to the plot as I felt it would overrun, way too much if I filmed everything I had planned so I ended up cutting the ending out and changing what scene I will end on. From this it has made me learn not to over plan and not to plan to film way too much otherwise it will just be uncessecery.
Editing

28/11/19
Today I edited in all my footage to a timeline I have so far to find out how much I have and what else is needed. I then cut each clip down cutting out any unneeded footage so it flows better. I left gaps where I would like to add footage that isn't yet recorded. Lastly, I added in some music (Elton John Saturday Night Fighting) I'm trying my best to get the music to the beat but need more footage to do this properly. I have done all this to help organize myself and see what is needed and how much footage I have so far. From this, I have learned to always make sure settings are correct on the camera when filming as one shot was very overexposed. I chose the Elton John song as I feel it goes really well with the visuals that will be on the scene as it is upbeat and quite fast-paced.

Today I edited a behind the scenes video adding in all the footage, title cards, and some music to keep it interesting. I have done this to help show what I did to get my footage recorded the way I envisioned. I also recorded most of the foley sounds I have planned to use and cut them down to a decent length then organized them so it is easier when I edit them into my film. I have recorded these as that is the main aim of this project (sound). From this, I have learned how to record proper Folley with professional sound recording equipment which will help me in the future as I will have past experiences.

Today I edited the coloring of my footage to try and make sure it all looks as similar as possible. I also needed to try and fix a lot of overexposed footage or footage that had gone really orange so by adjusting all the colors the best I could it made it look a lot better and more professional. I also went through footage cutting it and bringing it together so it runs smoothly and there are no big gaps between shots. From this, I learned to always make sure your footage is coming out ok when filming so I don't have to spend so long color correcting it in post. My planning meant we could get through the filming quickly as me and the actor knew exactly what we needed to do. I spent a lot of time experimenting with different colour settings to ensure I could get it as good as possible

Today I added in lots of Folley that I had recorded where I had planned to on my sound cue sheets. I made sure to time it to the right spots in order for my audio to sound like it isn't Folley. I also cut the audio down to correct lengths so it sounded right for the visuals. I have done this in order to get my opening scene to the brief with added recorded Folley and add it in later on in post in sound from doing this I have learned what to do to record Folley professionally. I also adjusted all the audio levels on the music and Folley to make sure nothing is too loud or to quiet so it all sounds how it should. I did this in order to make sure it flows as well as possible and nothing peaks to loud or too quiet. I feel by doing this will give it a professional feel when watching as the audio will be at a decent level over the music so nothing stands out too much.

Today I worked on many things, firstly I added in some warp stabilizer to the first little clip to ensure it is smooth as the camera tracks I did this to make sure it looks as cinematic as possible. I then began work on the titles (cast and film name) however I feel these need a lot more work to ensure they look professional otherwise I will run the risk of having the titles affect the quality of the end scene. lastly, I worked on fixing a lot of the color and white balancing everything as when I was filming the conditions weren't the best this meant a lot of the inside shots came out looking very yellow so by changing colors around I was able to try and fix this the best I could, I did this to try and make it flow better with everything looking the same throughout and to give it a more professional look. I also experimented with the titles I took into account the rule of thirds when placing the title to make sure it is in the best point possible that is visible but doesn't take away from the visuals.

Today I mainly focused on the titles for my opening scene by firstly using After Effects to make the title and then adding them into Premier Pro and over the top of the images on the screen. I first had them set to move across the screen but then looking at the composition I decided they would look a lot better just static in the corner so I adjusted this to give it the most professional look. I then worked on the title of the film and how it could come up and, in the end, went with it being very big and bold and I found a sound online that draws your attention to it as well as me cutting the music out and adding in some white noise over the top to really give it a sinister feel. I did this in order to make it look professional like a real film and to draw your attention straight to the title when it comes up. I found the sound I will use for the title online as it wasn't something I could make myself I really like the way my title comes in now with the sound and I feel it isn't too powerful but just enough to make you pay attention to it which was my aim.
Filming Day 2 (Monday 9th December)
My second filming day went really well me and my brother managed to get the last shot filmed as well as refilming a few other shots I wasn't happy with. I feel it was a very productive day and by getting these last shots done I can now fill in the gaps in my edit and get it finished off. We didn't have many problems when filming but I did find the high winds became quite hard to deal with as the camera was only picking up the wind at some points but we managed to overcome this by giving it 20 mins until the wind past then filming again.

9/12/19
Today I managed to get loads done. I first added in the new footage I filmed and cut the footage down to the right lengths to ensure it fits in the scene as smooth as possible, I then lined up the sound I recorded with the footage to make sure there is a clear focus on sound in the scene. I Then began to work on the coloring of all the footage to try and make it all look as similar as possible. However, due to the big changes in lighting, I struggled to get it as similar as I would have liked but this can't be fixed without an entire reshoot, that I don't have time to do. I will continue to play around with all the different filters and color settings until I can get it as similar as possible but I feel I won't be able to get it perfect but that can't be helped. Lastly, I added in some warp stabilizer to the last clip to make it as smooth as possible in turn making it as cinematic as possible.

10/12/19
Today I made some finishing touches to my opening scene. I mainly worked on the coloring of it as there were a lot of points where the coloring looked rubbish I managed to make it look a lot better still not perfect but as good as it will get without refilming I did this by changing the saturation and vibrance of the shots to bring the orange tint in the inside shots down. For the outside shots, I also made the shots slightly more blue to darken them down so they all look as similar as possible. I did this to make sure it looks as professional as possible and so it looks as similar as possible throughout as there were a lot of funny colours going on, to begin with, which I didn't like. From this, I have learned to always make sure camera settings are correct when filming so I don't have to go to this much work in post.

12/12/19
Today I made the final few tweaks to my edit to get it finished. I began by working on the coloring a little bit more to try and get it as similar as possible throughout. I adjusted the saturation of all the footage as well as adding in filters that would help enhance the footage to the best quality possible. I also did some final transitions adding in lots of audio and video transitions so each scene flows seamlessly throughout the whole scene. By doing this I have learned how to use filters to enhance footage which I will use in the rest of my edits to get them as good as I can and also which transitions are the best to use that are not too obvious that you have used them to make your footage look as well put together as possible. I have now exported the footage and will soon add it to my final outcome once I'm 100% happy with it. I felt today was mainly a lot of trial and error till I got the right look I wanted I spent most of the day just trying different filters out but did in the end finally find one I liked and that fitted with he footage.
