Filming Day 1 (Monday 10th February)
Here is some of the footage that I filmed for the performance segments of my music video. I experimented with lots of different shots types throughout the day and managed to shoot loads of footage and B role that I can use at different points in my video. I do still need to record the narrative parts of my video but I will do that this week. I felt filming went really well considering we had to have a last minute location change to in side my house due to the strong winds making the set I had made in our garden unusable. However due to this location change it meant I couldn't use my fire machines quite as much as I had planned to but I still which was annoying but I did still manage to use them at some points of the video. My actors, Elora, James and Eckram where also really good for my video and did a really good job of getting my vision across on screen. Once I finished filming I also went ahead and went through all my footage labelling it and deleting anything that was unusable which will really help speed up the editing process. From this video I have learnt to always check the weather before setting a filming date to ensure everything can run smoothly with no changes in location. However I do still think the footage I got was really good and just what I wanted for the music video. I have a behind the scene video bellow.
Here is the behind the scenes video I made to showcase what went into the filming of my music video and the issues I faced. Filming in general went really well and I got everything I needed to filmed in decent time. However as you can see from this video me and my dad went to the effort of building a stage in our field but due too the wind being too strong it just wasn't safe to film there, on the day so that was a waste of three hours. I did find though that everything else ran pretty smoothly and from the filming of this video I have learnt a lot to improve both my producing skills (I need to plan better and check the weather before hand) and my directing skills as I am now more confident directing.
Editing
13/02/20
Today I worked on editing all my performance segments of my video together as well as adding the chosen song "fire" to my edit. I began by Cutting the footage to the right length then putting it all in the order I had planned for it and getting rid of any unwanted footage. I also made sure to keep as much of my footage as possible cutting to the beat or to the beat of the song. I felt this went really well and I have more then enough footage to keep my video fast paced and interesting like I planned to watch, as I still have loads of footage left over. I still need to add in some colour correction and transitions and special effects to these five segments before I will be happy to call them complete but I will do this another time. I felt editing these went really well today and I didn't have any issues. From today I have learnt how helpful it was to label my footage before I began editing as this meant I could easily find each piece of footage I needed quickly and effectively to help speed up the editing process and keep me organised (which I don't normally do).

Today I worked on adding in many different transitions between my footage, I spent lots of time experimenting with lots of different transitions such as cross dissolve, morph, film dissolve and many more but in the end went with film dissolve, dip to black and cross dissolve as I thought these looked the best and kept up with the pace of my video well. I then experimented with different transition lengths to ensure the clips are shown for a long enough time and are not in the transition period longer than needed. Lastly, I then went through all the footage putting warp stabiliser over anything that needed it to ensure my footage is as smooth as possible and looks as professional as possible. I felt todays editing session went really well and I got loads done all to heighten the production values of my music video and make it look as professional as possible. From doing all this I have learnt how important it is to experiment with lots of different transition types and lengths to ensure I find the correct one for the shot as I found myself changing my mind lots of times while editing until I was finally happy with what I have now.

Today I worked on the colouring of my footage. I began by adding in an ajustment layer over all five of my performance segments I have so far, I then began to play around with things like exposure, contrast, highlights and vibrancy all to try and make my footage as clean as possible and of the highest quality I could. I also then began to do some work with shadows, midtones and highlights. I did all this to ensure my footage looks as good and professional as possible. I feel from this I have learnt more about the importance of lighting a shot well so none of my footage is too over exposed like some of my shots where, however I did managed to fix this by editing the colouring. I felt todays editing went really well and I think I am almost finished with the editing of my performance segments. I am going to try and experiment with some filters to see how that looks next.
Filming Day 2 (Monday 17th February)
Here is some of the footage that I filmed for the narritive segments of my video I experimented with all my new equipment I have bought to try and make this video as cinematic and professional as possible using my slider and steady cam to get some really interesting shots. I felt filming went okay however we where rushed for time due to not having allot of sunlight left to film, as one of my actors was running late and didn't get to mine when he said he would, and the build up to filming didn't go that well as I had two people drop out last minute, leaving me to have to get my mum to step in. You can see from the video now how the performance has been effected but never mind nothing I can do about it now. I plan to try and keep the pace really fast in the edit to try and subtract from the questionable performances at points I feel this will keep the video interesting and engaging to watch. From todays filming I have learnt too always have a plan b when relying on other people so I don't get myself in the situation I did this time and I will do always do this now in future projects so my videos are never effected negatively.
19/02/20
Today I worked on filling in all the gaps I had left for the narrative parts of my video I worked on cutting down and organising the footage to keep the video fast paced, engaging and similar to my original plan. I experimented a lot with my footage, switching different parts around to ensure it is timed to the beat as well as I can. Next I began to add warp stabalizer over anything that needed it to ensure my footage is smooth and professional. I also added in transitions such as cross dissolve and film dissolve to my footage so the cuts where nice and clean and the whole video flowed very well. I Made sure to cut out all the original audio from the clips as well. I also experimented with some cuts to black in between a few shots which I thought really helped keep the pace of the video up. I still need to work on the colouring of the video and make a few more changes to ensure the video looks as good as possible. I felt todays editing went really well I didn't come across many issues however I was stretched for footage and only just had enough to fill the video which isn't good. So from this I have learnt to always shoot more footage then I need to make editing easier and so I have more options to play around with in post.
20/02/20
Today I worked on making a behind the scenes video. I began by adding in all the clips I had, I then organised them into order and cut them to the appropriate length. I then added in some transitions such as cross dissolve and dip to black to ensure the video flows well and looks good. I then added in some background music (Roses) to help keep the video interesting. Lastlty, I then played around with transition times to see what looks best and added in the graphics so I can show what is happening in each shot and what equipment I used. I felt the editing of this video went really well and I got it all done in good time and to a decent standard. From todays editing I have learnt more about transition timing and what times are good for different length shots in addition I have got some more practise with Adobe Premier Pro.
21/02/20
Today I worked on the colouring of all my narrative segments of footage I first dded in lots of adjustment layers over all my footage. I then worked on adjusting all the different parameters such as contrast, vibrance and many more as shown above. I also white balanced all the footage I did all this to keep my video looking as professional as possible and so I can get the highest quality from my footage. I then did some fine tuning to the timing of some footage to make sure the cuts in-between each clip are as short as possible and what is happening on scene fits with the song well to ensure the video is kept fast paced and entertaining to watch. I then also did some warp stabiliser work to help fix a clip that had gone wrong. I felt todays editing went really well and I am very near completion of the video I just need to fine tune a few more bits and it will be done. From today I have learnt more about the effects of different colouring and the way that it can change a scene as I spent some time experimenting with different looks in post today. I do wish though that when filming I could have experimented with some cool lighting to enhance the production values of my music video and in my next project I will be doing this.
22/02/20
Today I worked on fine tuning my music video I began by ensuring all my footage was cut to the perfect length I then made sure the transitions were long enough but also not to long that it made the video to slow. I then went on to re arrange a few clips to ensure the video flows as well as possible and the pace of it is kept up. I lastly worked on making sure each clip was as smooth and looked as professional as I could make them. I have now began getting some feedback on my edit to see what people think I should change. I felt editing went really well today and from today I have learnt how by just moving one clip to a different position it can really improve the video. I feel I am very near completion of my video now.
23/02/20
Today I worked on the last few finishing touches of my music video. I began by watching the video myself and making any notes on anything I saw the didn't looked right or needed changing such as there where a few jumps in the fooatge a few transitions that weren't right and I had issues with colouring at the beginning I would then go into the edit and fix all these issues to ensure the video is of the best quality I can possibly make it then I would re watch and make notes again, I did this four times and spotted issues that needed ironing out each time and once I had done all this I was finally happy to call the video complete and export it in Premier Pro. I felt today was very good and really helped me polish up the video and iron out any little errors. I have leant the importance of rewatching your work several times to ensure there is no issues so I will do this in all future projects.
